The Development of Tubular Photobioreactor for Microalgae Cultivation

In a tubular photobioreactor, microalgae cells obscure one another (Self-shading), leading to the at bottom of tube getting less light. The objective this research was design and develop Tubular Photobioreactor with 93.5 liters for cultivation. experiments had two steps. first step designing solar receiver by inserting fin into each wall as follows: 12-34, 1-2-3-4, 1234, 13-24. Then, FLUENT software used simulate flow behavior inside Computational Fluid Dynamics observing pressure drop, amount energy consumption, swirling velocity select best fin-type. fin-type growth rate equation is introduced in next microalgae's movement using user-defined function technique. comparison photobioreactor investigated between without biomass production. results showed that algae's optimum inlet 0.15 meters per second tubes containing When simulating microalgae, show fins lower content than 13-24 fin-type, which were 0.675 0.806 grams liter, respectively, because will make well distribution increase light too. type more production, up 19.4 percent.
